Ok, I’ve done it, I’ve seen others do it, and I’ll bet you have too.  You get the nut off the bolt and the bolt won’t come out easily by pushing on it with your fingers. So you take your ratchet and pound it out.  Works ok, except the ratchet is round and most of the time it slips off or puts a ding on the thread.

This is a push-through 1/2 inch ratchet.  Push through meaning instead of a thumb lever to change the ratchet from one direction to the other, you just push the 1/2 in shank through the ratchet and put the socket on the other side to go in the reverse direction.
