There are many, many tools you can select for people from many, many manufactures and retailers. For this year I choose the best value tools from 12 different categories for you.

Note: Just about all of the tools I picked this year can be purchased from Sears.com.  Why?  First, shopping online through Sears is dependable, safe and easy.  Second, the products I have selected are good, quality tools that will give you years of service.  Yes, you can find cheaper tools (and more expensive ones) but these tools are cost effective, give you a good value for your money and will last a homeowner many years.

Most of these tools were selected from the Sears Holiday Tool Catalog If you didn’t get your copy you can go and check it out on-line.

Tool One: Impact Drivers

You don’t know it yet, but you need this tool!  Impact Drivers are the tool of the future for homeowners. Construction workers have know about them for years but there are finally good affordable impact drivers available for you. They are lightweight, easy to use and have all the features you need for screw driving and drilling tasks around the home.  I got one 8 months ago and I haven’t stripped a Phillips head screw since.

Tool Two: Multi-Tools!

Multi-Tools were the hot item last year and will be again this year.  These multi-purpose power tools can sand, cut, gouge, scrape, clean and do things other tools can’t around the home.  Once you have one it will quickly become the go-to tool around your home.  This year there is a better selection than ever!

Tool Three: Lithium-ion Cordless Drills!

Nicads are Dead! Lithium powered tools are they way to go.  If your drill is more than 5 years old it is usually a better buying decision to buy a new lithium powered drill than to replace the old nicad batteries for your drill.  These new drills are priced right for Christmas!

Tool Four: Universal Wrench and Socket Sets!

It seems every time you go to tighten or loosen a nut or bolt now-days you have to get a new wrench.  All the automated assembly plants now use the best fastener for the robot, not the best fastener for you. These new Universal Wrenches will handle six different types of fasteners.

Tool Five: Automotive and ATV Jacks!

A jack is indispensable for working on your car, motorcycle and ATV.  The person in your household who changes the oil and works on the vehicles will thank you.

Tool Nine: Tool Bags!

Ok, I can be a little “off” but I have used these for overnight bags. Now if Sears would only come out with a Craftsman Purse everyone in the house would be happy.

Tool Ten: Screwdriver Sets!

Buy a set that will last and warrantied for life.

Tool Eleven: Twist N’ Stay!

OK it’s not that cool, but it sure beats a tie or cooking apron.

I actually want about a dozen of these.

Tool Twelve: Work Lights!

I always need more light when I am working on something.  These lights are rugged, rechargeable, come with magnets and clamps so you can work on just about anything.  I just might mount one in the bathroom closet so I can get the “right” towel.
