It’s almost embarrassing how much money I have spent on specialty wrenches in the last 20 years.  It seems every time I need to work on something new I purchased I need a new wrench to get it apart.

One of the biggest problems is robotics.  While you and I have been using the standard six-sided (hex) nut and bolt for the last 100 years or so to bolt just about everything together, robots don’t use them well.  Automated assembly lines prefer spline, torx and other fasteners.  These fasteners are easier to feed into the automated machines and give a more reliable connection.
